Sukomade Beach

Sukomade beach is about 97 kilometers to the south west of Banyuwangi town. This beach is the special beach, cause five kind of turtles often come to this place for spawning the eggs such as green turtle, oliveredly turtle, hawksbill turtle, and leatherback turtle. This place is very rich cause it has many kind of plantations and benefit plants or trees, around 1200 hectare width which has an active plantation such as rubber, coffee. So, Dutch had discovered it in 1972 for taking the natural richness of this place. Sukomade is Natural Resource Conservation in East java which incharges the propagation of turtles. If the visitors want to see the turtle, they have to take a night adventure tour to Sukomade beach, because the female turtles often start to land at 07.30 PM and return to the sea at 12.00 PM. November to March is the pak season for laying egg. But sometimes, we can predict it cause it is nature. Here you will be guided by some natural resource rangers to find turtles come to shore for laying eggs. The female turtle can lay eggs more than one hundred eggs on the sandy beach. To reach this place, the visitors have to pass from Rajegwesi beach, then passing Green Bay. From the green bay, it is about 20 kilometers. After that, the visitors arrive to the small village before continuing the next route, the next route they have to pass the big river and cocoa plantation and then they can arrive in the sukomade post.
